Finally looks like we will have a nice day for our Conference Championship meet.  The girls will be at Henry Sibley and the boys will be at Tartan High School.  Forecast for meet time is 59 degrees with a WNW wind of 10.  Not too hot and not too cold!

Please make sure your athlete has warm-ups, water, a healthy snack and sunscreen. 

Conference Championship Track Meet Postponed Until Wed., May 14th

 

Because of the chance of lighting, our meets today has been postponed until Wed.  The forecast for Wed. is partly cloudy with highs in the upper 50'sl; no mention of rain or storms.

Wed. meets can be tough because of religious education.  We have, however, submitted a roster, and have limited slots for each event.  I ask that every effort is made to have your student participate in their events.  If your athlete can't attend the meet please let coaches know as soon as possible.

Thanks to all the students and parents for staying flexible and positive while working with us on what has turned out to be an extraordinary year; we've had a perfect storm of weather and of facilities limitations.

Meet Today is Canceled/ Great Job Yesterday

Our meet today is cancelled because of the threat of lightning and because of the chance of severe weather.  On a warm day like today rain alone will not cancel a meet.

Our conference meet will be held next Monday rain or shine so long as there is no dangerous weather.

On a more positive note, the students did an outstanding job jumping into our first real meet yesterday with limited track less practices.  We were very proud of their efforts, attitudes and performances.   Great Job!

Updated Meet Schedule (Notice Meets Tomorrow and Thursday) and a Request to Send Rain Gear

We are very pleased with the positive attitude of the students during a strange season without a track and the with added challenges of uncooperative weather.

Please make sure that your athlete has rain gear.  An inexpensive plastic poncho or other rain protection will keep our team comfortable and performing their best.  Rain is forecast and a strong possibility at all of our remaining track meets.

The weather is looking cold and wet for tomorrow's meet.  Please send ample warm and waterproof clothing with your athlete.  Also please check school announcements for potential cancellation.

Wed. meets can cause conflict with religious classes.  If athletes need to miss for church activities please send a note with them.  If possible, we would like to have students compete in earlier events.  Here is a list of events in order:

We're having a challenging year with tough weather and no track.  Everyone is doing a great job of making the best out of this situation.

Next week we have our meet scheduled for Wed.  Let coaches know if this conflicts with family plans.  We are also designing a team t-shirt for optional purchase.  We are looking at a blue, printed shirt with a cost on $10 or less.  I'll post an image when I get it. 

Today's Meet (April 17th) is Cancelled Due to Cold

No meet we will have practice until 4:15.  Please pick up your athlete by 4:30  Looks like Spring returns next week.

Not actual forecast for tomorrow 

We are planning on attending this meet after school tomorrow.  With four teams participating, I'm guessing that we will return around 7pm.  It is very difficult to give a firm time for track meets, but Richfield has run efficient meets in the past.  

Hats, gloves, winter jackets and warm sweat pants are going to be needed.  Forecast now looks like cloudy and upper 30's to low 40's.  Warm athletes are happier and perform better.

Showing an outstanding attitude, good effort and lots of heart the students did an outstanding job running during or first time trial meet!   

 This was a running event only time trial, so coaches were busy timing and did not have a chance to take action photos.  Here's a few shots that shows the infield fun.  Good to see happy faces!

Next Meet is Thursday, April 17th

1st Practice Today & First Time Trial Meet Tomorrow

Outstanding first practice.  We covered team expectations, signed up for events, learned our warm up routine and did a light work out in preparation for our meet tomorrow.

We have asked the athletes to check the forecast and dress appropriately. We also gave suggestions on snack and hydration options.

Our time trial meet is at North St. Paul tomorrow.  There are no field events or relays.  Students will compete in the 75 hurdles, 100m, 1600m, 400m, 200m and 800m.  We will return after the last event has been run.  I'm guessing we'll be back at school between 6:30 and 7:00pm.  We will have students call or text when we get close.

We encourage all students to ride the team bus home from meets.  Students may ride home with a parent if they check out with a coach.  You may not leave a meet with anyone other than your own guardian/parent without prior written approval.
